With the completion of the Arabidopsis genome project, plant genomics
has come of age.
Purdue University has a large group of faculty working on the frontier
of genomic science. Faculty
interests span a range of topics about how plants respond to biotic
and abiotic stresses to the elucidation of biosynthetic pathways
to applied research in crop improvement. Several groups collaborate
on species-specific projects in:
In addition to these exciting projects, a new effort to bridge
the gap between model systems (Arabidopsis) and crop plants (Maize)
is underway using state of the art metabolic profiling techniques.
