Changes in the LTL submission pages.

In June, 2006 we did a major overhaul of the LTL submission process. Our previous method was a cumbersome 7 web-page process:

1. Select profile

2. Enter number of samples and your Purdue account number. Choose if to enter sample manually or via a spreadsheet.

3. The Purdue account number was checked for validity.

4. Enter the samples.

5. Samples were displayed

6. Optionally, the samples could be edited.

7. The final “signature” page was displayed.

We have simplified this to a 3 page process:

1. Select profile page.
2. An unified page where samples and Purdue account numbers can be entered either manually or via a spreadsheet and then edited and verified.
3. A final “signature” page.

The other major change that you will probably notice is a display of the cost per reaction, the total cost and your account number verification. None of this is set in stone and so if there is a mistake in the display (e.g., the display indicates that you are being charged the “on-campus” rate when you should actually be charged the “cancer center” rate) then we can correct it later. Please let us know if you think you are being charged an incorrect amount so that we can update our database of known Purdue account numbers.

Some other minor changes:

• Instead of having one long list of names the profile page now has several shorter lists to choose from.
• We have gotten rid of the “concentration” and “volume” fields.
• An optional field of “vector size” has been added. If you use an uncommon vector then it would help us if you could put down the approximate vector size.
• We have added two more primers that we commonly use in the lab – R4 and F4.
• If you use an non-common primer you no longer have to explicitly choose ‘other – specify below’ from the drop-down menu. It will be chosen for you.
• Sample lines can be arbitrarily added and deleted. I.E., you no longer have to specify your number of samples in advance.
• Spreadsheet entry and manual entry of samples can intermingled.
• The web pages are no longer fixed width and so they may display in your web browser better.
• There is less repetition of our name and address.
